Boston is the capital city of Massachusetts and, as well as being the largest, it’s also the county seat of Suffolk County.
It was a year yesterday since the horrific events at the last Boston marathon and a moment of silence was observed before the start of this year’s race, the city honouring the three fatalities and also those that were injured.
Apparently the very first Thanksgiving day was celebrated in Plymouth in 1621 and the reenactment of the Boston tea party takes place every year on December 16th at Boston harbour.
An inquisitive visitor 🙂
Travelling up through Massachusetts towards Maine there are some very pretty places to stop and wander, like this old mill..
…and this very charming chapel..
Rockport is a beautiful little seaside town in Essex County, Mass, at the tip of the Cape Ann peninsular. With lots of lovely beaches and wonderful light it’s a draw for artists and abounds with art galleries, potteries and hand-made jewellery shops, not to mention some lovely restaurants.
Moving on up into Maine and Nubble (or Cape Neddick) Lighthouse. Loved this place.
