It was a little manic in Salisbury today, so a little down time was had walking around the Cathedral.
The old archway over the road leading to the Cathedral.
Just inside is the world’s oldest mechanical clock dating from 1386 – and apparently it has ticked more than 4.4 billion times since it was built!

The Chapter House houses one of the four remaining originals of the Magna Carta, dating from 1215, still in existence. No photos allowed but it’s quite remarkable to see a document like that, written in Latin with a quill pen on treated animal skin. The writing is so intricate, precise and tiny. Next year will be the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta and the stipulations in the document are just as relevant now as it has inspired many of the Bills of Rights we have today.
