Rosie Amber’s Friday Five Challenge, involves taking only five minutes to choose a book cover which appeals instantly. So take a few minutes, grab yourself a coffee…..and have a browse.

This fun feature is a mini workshop. We look at book covers just from their thumbnail pictures at online selling book sites and make quick fire buying decisions. We look from a READERS Point of View and this exercise is very EYE OPENING.

From the book cover we will browse the book description, price and some of the reviews BUT we only have 5 MINUTES.

Here’s the challenge

1) Go to any online book supplier,

2) Randomly choose a category,

3) Speed through the book covers, choose one which has instantly appealed to your eye,

4) Read the book Bio/ Description for this book,

5) If there are reviews, check out a couple,

6) Make an instant decision, would you BUY or PASS?

The search criteria was post apocalyptic and it didn’t take long to spot this cover….

The book description reads…

The cover conveys the atmosphere of the storyline well with the lone figure, broken fence and the dark clouds hovering, giving a sense of more trouble brewing.

This is the authors fifth novel, published in December 2015 and is book one in The Traveler Series. The kindle edition is £1.99/$2.95. Just one review on Amazon UK which is 5*. There are twenty-five reviews on Amazon US with an average of 4.5* a high percentage of those are 5*. 

One 3* reviewer (of only 2, there are also 2 x 2*) says This first book in a series is okay, but not fantastic or great. It was worth reading and I will probably buy the next book in the series.
It is though still max a three star book and that is as much because so many books gets too many stars. This is an average book, but no more than that.

Compared to a 5* reviewer who says I just completed reading Home by Tom Abrahams and I’m blown away. This well written, fast paced story is a modern day western.

One that will have you riveted to your reading device. At times, I dodged bullets, cried, and prayed along with our hero who goes by the apt name Battle.

From what I gather from the quick look inside feature, the story seems to have flashback chapters, from real-time to the beginning of the plague and I like the idea of a post apocalyptic, modern day western as it’s described in the review above. 

So will I BUY or PASS? I’ll BUY. It’s worth a try and if I’ve found a good series, all the better.
