I’m reading Anywhere The Wind Blows, the third and final book in the Megan Jones trilogy, set in 19th century Wales.

First line of the book.

It is her brother, Morgan, who comes to tell Megan the news.

Your favourite line/scene.

The thought crossed my mind that perhaps I should go to the preacher and try to persuade him Eli was innocent of the sin of which the preacher accused him. The thought of Eli being buried outside of consecrated ground made me quake with fear. He would surely come back to haunt me, would not rest in a grave fit only for criminals and murderers. But what was I to say that would not turn the finger of suspicion upon me. I feared the preacher and the law as much as I feared Eli’s ghost. Fear it was that held my tongue, though Megan was in distress and I with no words of comfort for her. 

“Is it any wonder they are all against me now?” she said, seeing me standing there and pausing to lean on the hoe. She was breathless from her exertions. “If they did not hate me already because they believe I drove him to madness, they hate me now for they hold me responsible for this and all.”
