Welcome to my stop on Rachel’s blog tour for her new crime thriller Scared To Death.
Tell us a little about yourself, Rachel, what you do when not writing.
I currently live in Brisbane, Australia after emigrating here 11 years ago from the UK. Prior to emigrating, I played guitar in bands, helped run a pub, and worked in local radio as a freelance producer and broadcast assistant. To date, I’ve written eight books with Scared to Death being the latest.
If I’m not writing, I’m usually thinking about writing or sorting out the business and marketing side of the writing in between my part-time job!
What is your least favourite part of the writing process?
The sheer terror in the weeks leading up to a new release being published.
Is there someone who has been a major influence in your life?
My grandad. I’ve inherited his thirst for learning, and his love of travel – and reading! He’s 96 years old now, and we still write to each other every month.
What/who are your favourite read/authors?
My favourite authors include Peter James, Val McDermid, Angela Marsons, and Robert Crais – all of them are brilliant at bringing characters and setting to life.
Favourite reads other than those authors include the Shardlake series by CJ Sansom, the Harry Potter books, and all of Bill Bryson’s travel books.
What do you fear the most?
Running out of time to write all the stories I’ve got going around in my head!
Best guilty pleasure.
Cheese on toast ☺
What piece of advice would you give your younger self?
Stay focused, and believe in myself. We never do, do we?
A detective seeking revenge.
When the body of a snatched schoolgirl is found in an abandoned biosciences building, the case is first treated as a kidnapping gone wrong.
But Detective Kay Hunter isn’t convinced, especially when a man is found dead with the ransom money still in his possession.
When a second schoolgirl is taken, Kay’s worst fears are realised.
With her career in jeopardy and desperate to conceal a disturbing secret, Kay’s hunt for the killer becomes a race against time before he claims another life.
For the killer, the game has only just begun…
Scared to Death is a gripping fast paced crime thriller from author Rachel Amphlett, in a new series introducing Kay Hunter – a detective with a hidden past and an uncertain future…
