The Silver Wolf (James Ryker Book 3) by Rob Sinclair #Thriller @BloodhoundBook @RSinclairAuthor

I’m delighted to be part of the blog tour for The Silver Wolf by Rob Sinclair. My thanks to Sarah Hardy and Bloodhound Books.

Following on from The Black Hornet James Ryker is driven by the need to find the person responsible for Lisa’s disappearance and subsequent death. A call from Eleanor Willoughby, a JIA agent who helped Ryker previously, sends him hotfooting it to Mexico. Ryker’s visit to, and his interest in, a certain El Yuca Property has not gone unnoticed.

Meanwhile back in London, Peter Winter, head of the JIA, is keeping a watchful eye on Ryker. Once one of the JIA’s best assets, Ryker is no longer considered a viable option as an operative and has been allowed to retire. The turmoil which seems to surround him isn’t conducive to keeping a cool head. Retirement seemed the best option from both their perspectives. Nevertheless Winter feels an obligation to Ryker for saving his life and would offer help if it was needed.

Poking around in Mexico causes Ryker to become entangled in an ongoing Drug Enforcement Agency investigation and sets him on the trail of the evasive Silver Wolf. The hunt takes him via London, where the JIA are having serious problems of their own, to the beautiful Lake Maggiore in Italy, where he finds much more than he bargained for.

Taking one last shot before he crashed out from exhaustion, Ryker further refined the search so that it pulled up all documents where the text contained a capital S and a capital W at the start of adjacent words.

Just two hits, but Ryker smiled when he saw both his hits contained the same words. In one, the reference was to Silver Wolf Investments. In the other, Silver Wolf was referring to a person.

Ryker had no idea who or what that was, but he knew he had another lead.

Despite the battle scars he’s collected over the years, Ryker is still tough and determined. Just as well because he’s up against one of the most horrifying villains yet, in another fast paced, action packed and exciting conclusion (or is it?) to the series. It’s going to take all of Ryker’s skill and cunning if he’s to get the better of his enemies.

The (sometimes gruesome) narrative flows well as we follow Ryker from place to place in his search for The Silver Wolf, with engaging writing and realistic dialogue. It has everything you’d want in an espionage thriller – a tight twisty plot, great characters, horrible villains and surprise twists. I could have done without the repeat of a particular torture, but that’s a small point. Well rounded characters drive the story forward and it’s a testament to Rob Sinclair’s writing that it invokes vivid imagery.

I chose to read and review The Silver Wolf based on a copy of the book supplied by the author/publisher.

Ryker wants blood, and one way or another he’ll get it...

Still tormented by the disappearance of his wife, ex-intelligence agent James Ryker sets out on a personal mission of revenge, prepared to go to any lengths in search of the truth. The trail takes him from the crystal waters of Mexico’s Caribbean coast, back to a place he thought he would never set foot again – his country of birth, England. But there he discovers more than even he bargained for. Stumbling across a terrorist attack targeted against his old employers – the secretive Joint Intelligence Agency – the faint clues to many events in his recent past are all seemingly linked to one mysterious character; The Silver Wolf.

But just who is the Silver Wolf, and why is he hell bent on punishing not just Ryker, but his closest allies at the JIA too?

Has Ryker finally met his match?

The Silver Wolf is a globe-trotting thriller that sees James Ryker at his hard-nosed best as he fights the ghosts of his past. As skilled as Jason Bourne, as no-nonsense as Jack Reacher, James Ryker delivers in another heart-pounding thriller.

Rob is the author of the critically acclaimed and bestselling Enemy series and James Ryker series of espionage thrillers. His books have sold over half a million copies to date with many reviewers and readers having likened Rob’s work to authors at the very top of the genre, including Lee Child and Vince Flynn.

Rob began writing in 2009 following a promise to his wife, an avid reader, that he could pen a ‘can’t put down’ thriller. He worked for nearly 13 years for a global accounting firm after graduating from The University of Nottingham in 2002, specialising in forensic fraud investigations at both national and international levels. Rob now writes full time.

Originally from the North East of England, Rob has lived and worked in a number of fast paced cities, including New York, and is now settled in the West Midlands with his wife and young sons.
