A Sunny Day Hike up the hill to Castell Dinas Bran (or Crow Castle in English) #Photography
A couple of months ago we attempted the very steep climb up to the ruined castle. Dinas Bran towers above Llangollen and the Dee Valley in a spectacular setting that offers panoramic views from all sides.
The views on the way up are beautiful. There were several stops to catch our breath and admire the scenery.
I was assured the view would be worth the climb but at this point I wasn’t very hopeful of making it.
The crown of the hill has been fortified for centuries and according to the legend it was the refuge of the Celtic deity, Bran. A medieval castle was built on the site in the 13th century.
Watch this space to see if we made it to the top 😉
Been to Llangollen many times as I have family in the area, but have never made it up to the castle! Your photos are gorgeous, and I look forward to seeing whether you make it to the top 🙂
