I love being a mother and I love spending time with my children. When I became pregnant with my first daughter I was on a very ambitious career path. But becoming a mother changed my view of the world and for the next four years my daughters became my world. My husband and I had decided to have our babies abroad so that we could see the world whilst becoming parents. One was born in the warm summer heat of Croatia and the other on a freezing cold winter’s day in Quebec, Canada.

Fast forward 4 years and in 2013 we returned to Denmark where I ‘became’ a writer, ghost writing a book on stress in students. That so many children and adolescents in Denmark, a seemingly happy nation, suffered with stress, shocked me and made me reflect on my own daughters’ future mental wellbeing.

Loving them, taking four years of maternity leave and only working part time I felt I was doing many things right. But just the fact that they were growing up in a Digital Age made me realise that they would need tools to help them unwind, relax and let go of all the impressions brought to them by our speedy society and their soon-to-be overscheduled days. Mindfulness and meditation were the tools that helped me do that and so I wanted to teach these tools to my girls.

Motherhood comes with so many challenges and I quickly learned that my energy affected my kids both negatively and positively. And when I saw the profound effect consciously sharing my heart’s energies with my children, through meditation at bedtime, had on them, I wrote the book.

I am truly passionate about teaching parents about heart energy and the power of our hearts, so that we can spread love to our children and teach them about the importance of self-acceptance and love.

The difference I’m told my book has made has completely blown me away. It turns out that a present, loving, calm parent together with meditation techniques can work wonders when it comes to bedtime. I have received so many beautiful letters from parents from all over the world telling me that their children used to struggle for 2-3 hours to fall asleep and with my book their children are now asleep within 15 minutes. Sleep is so important for children. Many things become much easier when children get their sleep – that goes for adults as well by the way.

Also the response from parents of children with special needs or challenges arising from adoption, ADHD, autism, anxiety, death in the families to stress, has been overwhelming. And I am so grateful my book has helped and continues to help children from all over the world get to know the healing power of their hearts. That to me is so beautiful and has inspired me to write more books with meditations.

I have recently published “The Valley of Hearts – Meditations for Children” in Danish, and hope to have it translated into English in 2018. I have also opened up an academy to help raise awareness of yoga, mindfulness and meditation for children at the Danish schools and kindergartens, and I coach and heal parents, helping them to become conscious parents who are able to share their love and light with their children and bring out the best in them.

I have been very fortunate growing up knowing about the power of my own heart and have always felt safe and loved by my parents and in later life, by my husband. I cannot begin to describe how these feelings of love and security help me. Knowing that I am forever loved has made me believe in myself, shoot for the moon, and has given me the courage to carry out my life’s mission. I have shared my story of how I found my voice in a chapter of a book I was invited to co-author. “Time to Rise” by Dr. Andrea Pennington was published on December 12, 2017. 

I so wish for all children to grow up knowing they are loved and especially how much love they can feel for themselves. It is from this state of awareness that an inner desire to help and change the world into an even better place grows. I honestly believe it would make a profound difference in the world if the next generation grew up fully in tune with their inner beauty and the power of their hearts.

Gitte Winter Graugaard is a Danish writer, life coach, energy mentor, and lightworker on a mission to teach children about their inner beauty and give them tools to navigate the speedy world of The Digital Age with constant impressions to handle. She does that through writing books on beautiful heartbased child meditations that parents read to their children at bedtime, “The Children’s Meditations in my Heart” (in English, Spanish and Danish) and “The Valley of Hearts – meditations for children” (in Danish for now only). She also does workshops and key notes. 

Gitte believes that when we teach children to listen to their intuition, turn up their self-love, and reconnect to nature, we give them the tools they need to thrive in life. And thriving children are the ones who grow up with the power to one day make a difference. Gitte makes parents aware of their energy and what they radiate to their children. She teaches them to always parent themselves first, before they parent their children. Thousands of children all over the world now have an easier time falling asleep. 

Lessons learned from a lifetime of love and adventure has led Gitte to begin writing for adults as well in Time to rise.
