I’m delighted to welcome Marcia Meara with the info on her new release and a short extract.

Thank you so much for having me here today, Cathy! I’m so excited to be sharing the release of The Emissary 2: To Love Somebody with you and your followers. The great review you gave the first book of this trilogy definitely inspired me to continue the story of Jake, Dodger, and Azrael, and I hope you’ll enjoy this middle book just as much. I tried to provide all the laughs–and tears–the first book had, along with a few sneaky surprises here and there.

I also hope the blurb and short excerpt below will tempt some of your followers to check out this little series. Both Book 1 and Book 2 of the trilogy are quick, easy reads, which are definitely not meant to be taken as serious religious dogma. Rather, they are merely excursions into a bit of “what-if-ery,” with a few nuggets of universal truths scattered throughout.

Note: I do need to point out that this middle book of the Emissary Trilogy is not a stand-alone novella. With that in mind, Book 1, The Emissary, can be downloaded HERE.

They’re back!

Jake and Dodger, the first (and so far, only) Emissaries to the Angels, are on the road again.

They’re looking for mortals about to take a wrong turn. You know the ones—the kid thinking about stealing from a corner market or the man planning to lie about a coworker and destroy her career. Yeah, them. People on the brink of making a mistake that could send them down that wrong road and jeopardize their mortal souls.

Of course, there are rules by which the emissaries must play, and the archangel Azrael stands ready to enforce them. First and foremost, a person’s free will must never be compromised. Emissaries are allowed to use only the smallest of mental nudges. Thankfully, a whispered suggestion here or images of a better course of action there is usually all it takes. The potential mugger walks on by. The thief drops the wallet back into the unattended purse. But whether the results are obvious or not, Jake and Dodger are fully committed to making a positive difference, even as they struggle with issues of their own.

Will Dodger get over losing his chance to learn what true love is all about? Will Jake survive the grueling angelic equivalent of Boot Camp? Will Azrael ever finish the Official Emissarial Guidebook—including the chapter titled Do Not Even Think About It?

One thing’s for sure—Jake’s and Dodger’s strengths are growing daily, as they help more and more people make better choices. But is the price for so much power higher than they’re willing to pay?

EXCERPT

(After living on the streets of Atlanta for several years, and going hungry most of that time, Dodger has become a bottomless pit now that regular meals are part of his life again. Jake is always amazed that the boy can eat so much, but Dodger never lets a good meal go to waste–especially if there’s pie involved.)

“Knock yourself out, man! Live it up now and then. Some extra pieces of pumpkin pie won’t kill ya. Hell, eatin’ a whole pie won’t kill either of us. We’re emissaries! We can eat as much as we want.”

“To paraphrase the words of Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park, just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. I suspect even if it didn’t kill us, we wouldn’t feel too great after eating an entire pie.”

“That’s about the tenth time you’ve said that Goldblum thing to me, you know. I gotta watch that movie someday. I mean, since it made such a big impression on you, and all.”

“You’ve never seen Jurassic Park?”

“I’m twenty, Jake! Hell, I probably wasn’t even born when that movie was made. Way before my time, old man.”

The waitress appeared, interrupting their banter, and Dodger ordered his lunch, complete with the longed-for pumpkin pie.

After the slightest of hesitations, Jake ordered the same thing, ignoring Dodger’s grin. “You convinced me, kid. Life’s short. Eat all the pumpkin pie you can get.”

Marcia Meara lives in central Florida, just north of Orlando, with her husband of over thirty years, four big cats, and two small dachshunds. When not writing or blogging, she spends her time gardening, and enjoying the surprising amount of wildlife that manages to make a home in her suburban yard. At the age of five, Marcia declared she wanted to be an author, and is ecstatic that at age 69, she finally began pursuing that dream.     2. When you figure out how to add extra reading hours to the day, please email me right away, Judith! 😀 I SO miss reading 2 or 3 books a week. Now I’m down to 2 or 3 weeks to read ONE. 😦 But I keep plugging away at it, because life without reading is rubbish. Hope you’ll have a chance to check this series out one of these days, though.     1. Ha! Me, too, Olga! I so miss reading at least 3 to 4 hours every night! Now, I’m lucky if I finish a chapter before falling asleep, after a long day’s work. Still, writing is worth it, at least for now. And when I’ve told all my stories, hopefully I’ll have a few years of non-stop reading to enjoy!   7. This sounds like a fun series. I have read two of the Wake Robin Ridge series, enough to know that Marcia is a very engaging writer. And, Marcia, I finally got a kindle and I actually like it. Now I have your books at my finger tips. If I can just find the app that provides more time I will be reading more. And the Emissary series is on the list.

    1. Boy, I know what you mean about the magic More Time App! I’m thinking I just need to give up the five hours sleep I get each night. That would make a huge difference in my days! 🙂 Thank you for the kind words about my writing, and congratulations on getting a Kindle. Oh, the difference it has made in my life! (Not that I don’t still collect print books, too. Just that I READ primarily on my Kindle where I can adjust the font, and even underline phrases without damaging my precious print books!)     1. Yep. I was halfway through the draft of WRR4 (a new Rabbit tale) when Irma hit, and I finally shelved it to work on something shorter and easier, The Emissary 2. Now that TE2 is out, I’m back at work on Rabbit’s next book, The Light. Hope you’ll like ALL of the above, Trish! 😀 ❤ Looking forward to hearing what you think about each of them. 🙂

    1. Oooh, be careful using words derived from the verb “smite” around Azrael, Mae. He doesn’t carry that enormous sword for nothing, you know. 😉 Although, I do admit, he has begun to mellow a bit, thanks to his growing attachment to his emissaries. 😀 I do hope you enjoy this one, with or without any smiting going on.
