My Chronicle Book Box arrived this week (there are spoilers below if you’ve ordered one and not received it yet) This is a quarterly subscription box with a choice of science fiction/fantasy or crime/mystery. There are also one-off gift boxes available. This quarter’s box includes three recent releases and other bookish goodies.
Now for the books….
The Way Of All Flesh
Edinburgh, 1847. Will Raven is a medical student, apprenticing for the brilliant and renowned Dr Simpson. Sarah Fisher is Simpson’s housemaid, and has all of Raven’s intelligence but none of his privileges.
As bodies begin to appear across the Old Town, Raven and Sarah find themselves propelled headlong into the darkest shadows of Edinburgh’s underworld. And if either of them are to make it out alive, they will have to work together to find out who’s responsible for the gruesome deaths.
This book has gorgeous end papers and is signed.

Red Snow (A Tuva Moodyson Mystery Book 2) Included is a signed book-plate
TWO BODIES
One suicide. One cold-blooded murder. Are they connected? And who’s really pulling the strings in the small Swedish town of Gavrik?
TWO COINS
Black Grimberg liquorice coins cover the murdered man’s eyes. The hashtag #Ferryman starts to trend as local people stock up on ammunition.
TWO WEEKS
Tuva Moodyson, deaf reporter at the local paper, has a fortnight to investigate the deaths before she starts her new job in the south. A blizzard moves in. Residents, already terrified, feel increasingly cut-off. Tuva must go deep inside the Grimberg factory to stop the killer before she leaves town for good. But who’s to say the Ferryman will let her go?
Of course this means I have no choice but to add the first book, Dark Pines, to my list! (Any excuse 😉)

Her Last Move
He hides in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment. Each kill is calculated, planned and executed like clockwork.
Struggling to balance her personal and professional life, young DS Becca Vincent has landed the biggest case of her career – and she knows that it will make or break her. But how can she identify one face in a sea of thousands? With the help of Police Super Recogniser Joe Russell, she strives to catch a glimpse of the elusive murderer, but he’s watching her every move.
Time is not on their side. The body count is rising, and the attacks are striking closer and closer to home. Can Becca and Joe uncover the connection between the murders before the killer strikes the last name from his list?

Ooh, I love the sound of these boxes! I like that you can just order one as that would make an ideal gift for a book lover.

I really like the idea, but I always worry about duplicating books I have already bought, this kind of puts me off subscribing. I have 2 of the 3 books, though not signed. If I could stop pre-ordering books 🙄😊

I know, that was my problem. I’m going to wait for the next box before buying (she says hopefully 😆)

I’m always tempted by this box, but it’s rather pricey, then again you do get three books! I spy the box every month and it usually turns out I’ve got a least one of the books so I also panic about duplications. And my pet peeve with book boxes is when they included books in a series that aren’t book one, because I like to read series in order. How this comment became my book box vent, I’m not quite sure 🙈 I only meant to say I do love the look of this book, and I’m curious to see what you make of The Way of All Flesh, I’ve been tempted by it a few times 🤔

Yes, I know what you mean. Luckily Red Snow is only the second and I’ve been seriously tempted to start this series.
