#WeekendMusicShare ~ Bring Him Home by John Owen Jones #Music #Video
I’m joining in with Hugh’s fun Weekend Music Share feature on Hugh’s Views and News and this week’s choice is a song which marks a memorable event.
My choice this week is Bring Him Home from Les Misérables. A similar story to Hugh’s, except I was racing up the motorway one night in July 2012, hoping I’d get to the hospital in time for the birth of my grandson, listening to a concert version of the musical to keep me awake. When Bring Him Home came on it just seemed so appropriate (we knew the baby would be a boy)
I found this clip of my favourite Jean Valjean, John Owen Jones, singing the song. Every time I hear Bring Him Home now it reminds me of that journey.
JOJ was the youngest actor to play Valjean and reprised the role in the revival on Broadway in, I think, 2007.
Hope you enjoy 🙂 And I did make it – with less than an hour to spare!
What a great memory, Cathy. When my Great-niece was born, I was ironing! Your journey up the motorway sounds a far more exciting memory than mine in welcoming a new member of the family into the family.
Wonderful song choice. I hear there is a new show that features all the songs from Les Misérables in London. I bet it’s a fantastic show to see, although I hear tickets are expensive.
It’s a good job it was overnight and there was hardly any traffic around, Hugh. I probably would have been banned by the time I arrived. Tickets are incredibly expensive in the West End now. The Queen’s theatre is being refurbished so a concert version of the show is being performed in another theatre for a few months while the work is carried out. It really is a brilliant show…and my favourite.
A beautiful version of the song Cathy and so perfect for this special journey 💜 What a wonderful story and so glad you got there safely with time to spare 😁💖 xxx
I love song. So moving. And what a lovely memory to associate with it.
