Visit to a Nature World Attraction that supports Butterfly Conservation #Nature #Butterfly #Photography

One of the outings to keep a seven year old occupied during the summer holiday was a visit to a Nature World attraction. He wanted to see the bugs but did enjoy the butterflies. There were many species, this is just a small selection that I managed to photograph. It wasn’t easy to try to name them via Google and if I have any wrong please feel free to say so.

A group of Owl butterflies with a little Brown Clipper feasting on the fruit. The Owl butterflies are quite large, it’s quite surreal being surrounded by such large butterflies flying around…and landing on you as well! We had to check we weren’t carrying any on our persons before we left.

  4. My absolute favorite are the owl butterflies! How beautiful all your pics are, Cathy.

    We put fruit out for the first time this year and got so much enjoyment out of watching all the butterflies flock to one place. We’ll definitely be doing that every year now.

    1. Thanks so much. The Owl butterflies are very impressive, in size and markings. I’ll be putting fruit out myself next year and see what it attracts. I’d never thought of doing that before.

      1. You’ll have to let me know how it works for you. We’ve done oranges and banana peels. They seem to love both. We had monarchs, fritillary and some swallowtails mainly. It was a good year. 😉

  7. Amazing pics! I love pictures of butterflies – they’re so gorgeous. But I have an irrational terror of moths, butterflies and daddy-long-legs in real life so I couldn’t ever go to a butterfly house – my screaming would upset the other visitors! 😉

    1. Somehow moths scare me too. I think it because they can be quite hairy and I don’t like daddy log legs either. I can cope with butterflies but the butterfly house was like walking into a sauna. I can out with seriously bad hair 😂

  8. Oh my gosh – SO much beauty in one post, I can hardly handle it all!! Your photos are astounding. You have butterflies that we don’t have here and they are gorgeous! I’ve created a butterfly garden and have been amazed at all of the different types who have come to eat and drink in that garden. Now I have caterpillars on my milkweed and I’m beside myself with joy every morning when I check on them!
    BTW – I love moths too, especially Luna moth. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! I’m not sure whether these are all native to the UK because it’s a conservation centre but it was amazing to see the variety. How wonderful to have a butterfly garden! I plant butterfly friendly plants but haven’t the space for a dedicated garden. That must be amazing. The Luna moth is beautiful – although the giant part creeps me out a bit 😀😉
