⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Detective Josie Quinn hasn’t heard from her sister since Trinity stormed out of the house in the heat of an argument three weeks ago. So, when human remains are found at the remote hunting cabin where Trinity was last seen, Josie can only assume the worst.

Trinity Payne, a news anchor for a major TV network, was staying with her twin sister, Detective Josie Quinn when they had a row and Trinity stormed out out of the house. She’d been lying low after an inopportune remark on air, worried that it might have cost her her career. While staying at Josie’s she was also working on a secret project that she hoped would catapult her back in the limelight.

Josie hadn’t heard from Trinity in a month and was worried. Convinced by her partner, Lieutenant Noah Fraley, she decides to take the sunglasses Trinity left behind and use them as an excuse to go to the remote cabin her sister is renting. When she gets there all she finds is Trinity’s car with all her luggage inside and no sign of Trinity. Checking round the back of the cabin, to her shock and horror, she discovers human remains.

She forced her feet to move another step. Her throat constricted, and she worked hard to push the air in and out of her lungs. Arrayed on the grass before her were bones. Human bones. Not left there or dumped, but arranged.

Josie and her team are on the case, hugely relieved to find the dental records aren’t a match for Trinity but for a single mother missing from a nearby town. The race is on to find Trinity before the worst happens. Several clues are uncovered when Trinity’s car is dusted for prints but it’s unclear initially what they mean. During the investigation more bones are discovered, adding to the seriousness and necessity to find Trinity and the perpetrator as quickly as possible.

Told from Josie’s perspective, with several chapters from a secondary character’s terrible story. Perfectly paced, it never lags but propels the reader through tension, suspense and drama. Family in all its complexity is a big part of the story as we learn more about Trinity through her back story and why she chose the career she did.

Find Her Alive is a solid police procedural and atmospheric thriller with good character and relationship development, great storytelling plus a twisty plot. I thoroughly enjoyed the read.
