  1. It’s a fascinating part of our wonderful county. My husband used to work with community organisations across Northumberland. Arranging meetings on the island was always challenging as tide tables had to be consulted.

  3. The one time we visited there was going to be a wedding at the castle and the bride arrived in a horse drawn carriage across the causeway – the horses had to make quite an effort to get up the slop to the castle.
