It’s a fascinating part of our wonderful county. My husband used to work with community organisations across Northumberland. Arranging meetings on the island was always challenging as tide tables had to be consulted.
Beautiful images Cathy, it looks so atmospheric and a wonderful place to spend some time. Wishing you a peaceful evening and much love from our house to yours 🤗💖🐕 xxx
The one time we visited there was going to be a wedding at the castle and the bride arrived in a horse drawn carriage across the causeway – the horses had to make quite an effort to get up the slop to the castle.

It really is, and I can imagine the difficulties trying to organise meetings on a tidal island. Thanks for commenting 🙂

What a fabulous place to have a wedding …but yes that’s some hill for the horses.

Looks interesting. Is it as remote as it appears? Always looking for places to visit when we stay in Guisborough with my MiL

It’s not really remote. The drive out to the island takes about 5-10 minutes but with it being tidal you have to keep a close eye on tide times.
