This week’s theme is 2021 ln Your Rear View Mirror ~ looking back at a strange year.
2021 didn’t start well. After a couple of weeks of vet visits over Christmas and waiting for test results, we had to say goodbye to this lovely boy. He is much missed. As you can see, he liked his comforts so I hope there are plenty of sofas over the rainbow bridge.
February saw us packing up the house. We had found a house we liked and the process was ongoing but as we didn’t want to lose our buyer or the new house, and even though it looked like we might be homeless in the middle of a pandemic when the hotels were all closed, we put everything into storage. Luckily a friend of ours had a house in Conway which he said we could use. Phew! I didn’t fancy camping out at all. Unfortunately for me, I managed to sprain my ankle on a day out. I should have known better than to climb over stiles, especially when there’s an uneven drop on the other side…
We eventually moved into the new house at the end of March. It’s suits us well…for now. It’s our ninth move and I think we’ve become a little nomadic.
Then in August this little (not so little now) bundle came into our lives. He enjoyed his first Christmas and presents, and luckily the tree stayed upright and unmolested. He enjoys standing in weird places, even if it does turn his ear inside out.
The garden is still a work in progress but it’s nice to watch the birds. There are a good variety of birds around including ones I haven’t seen at other houses such as jays, great spotted woodpecker, chaffinch, pied wagtail and a redpoll. The first I’ve ever seen.

What a year, Cathy. I’m sorry you lost your pup. What a beautiful dog. We are currently taking on a sixth after my husband’s friend died of Covid a few days ago. It’s going to be wild here.
You take such beautiful photos! I’m looking forward to seeing all of them in 2022. Hugs 💜

Now I understand why we didn’t see too much of you last year, Cathy! I’m so sorry about your sweet dog. Not a great way to start a new year. I moved once in 32 years and nearly lost my mind and that you have moved 9 times? Wow, you’re a pro! But you’ve probably learned to pare down to the necessities and truly cherished items by now. So great to see your post and 2021 wrap up. Cheers to a great start to 2022 and take good care!

Thanks, Terri. My blog suffered generally last year. I’s also forgotten how time consuming a puppy is and it’s not getting easier lol Yes, every time we move either a skip gets filled with rubbish or my husband makes many journeys to the tip. Enjoy your new house, it looks fabulous!

Yes, you’re quite the nomad but it sounds fun. Bet it keeps you from accumulating and storing needless things!

So sorry I didn’t reply, Jonetta. Just found this in my spam folder. It’s always so hard to lose a pet you love, he was my fourth dog. It’s not the same without a canine companion.
Every time we move we fill a skip and send lots of stuff to charity shops but somehow it builds up again…

What a year it has been Cathy and you gave sweet Finn the most wonderful home and life he could have wished for. The birds that visit your new garden are a joy to see and Flynn looks adorable 😍. Oh well, you could have done worse than a stay in Conwy, though I can imagine how GRRRR it must have all been at the time, esp with a twisted ankle!!! Hope you’re happy and settled now…. for a while!
I am not a dog person as you know but he is very sweet! Happy New Year, and who knows – we may all meet up again one day! xx

How sad to have lost your beloved dog, Cathy. He was beautiful. That must have made you very heartsore. But welcome to the new pup too. What a comic! I’m glad you’re settled again, for now. Maybe you should get a boat, and then when you want to move, you can just take your house with you, like me 🙂 Happy 2022!
