Welcome to the Sunday Stills feature hosted by Terri Webster Schrandt. This week’s theme is Summer.
I love being by water in any season but summer walks are especially enjoyable.

Fun on the beach

Colourful blooms and butterflies.

The birds provide lots of interest, spring and summer sees many baby birds. This year we had several nesting birds. This juvenile blue tit was having a wash and brush up in the sun.

The butterflies love the catmint bush, and the one on the right must have found something in the soil, perhaps having a drink.

Beautiful pictures as always.

I think you epitomized summer with this post, Cathy–like me you went for beaches and flowers with family thrown in for extra measure! I just love that pathway along the water!

Thanks, Terri. The canal path is only a few minutes from our house so we tend to walk there quite often. It’s fun to talk to the boaters and watch them negotiating the locks.

Wow, you are lucky! Any brave paddleboarders or kayakers out there?

Not on the canals but we’ve seen them on rivers and the ocean.

Lovely pics! As a Glaswegian, what summer mostly means to me is rain. So not unlike autumn, winter and spring then… 😉

I loved all your photos. I love capturing butterflies. I need to get a few more flowers that will attract them. I just couldn’t get around to joining in this week and having some issues with my photos but wanted to make sure I visited everyone.

Thanks so much, Kirstin 🙂 I’ve tried to get flowers to attract butterflies and bees this year. Hope you get the issues sorted out.
