His secret’s revealed… Her revenge is silent…
A woman wronged. Her husband a cheat. Can she get her revenge without him realising he’s being punished?
Sharon Beesley, owner of Sharon’s Stores, discovers by chance the secret life her husband Eric is living, and once she begins to take her revenge, she finds she’s unable to stop.
Meanwhile, their schoolgirl daughter Daisy follows the tempting trail of breadcrumbs left by a much older man. But when they meet, all is not what it seems. And no one knows where she is.
With Daisy in trouble and her parents distracted by their own problems, everyone is surprised when help comes from an unlikely place. As does retribution…
We met the unpleasant Sharon Beesley in A Killer Strikes, the first the A Shade Darker series. In The Shape of Revenge her personality and distorted reasonings are fully revealed. Sharon owns and runs the general store in Melton and is proud of what she’s achieved given the family roots she tries hard to forget. She has an inflated opinion of herself, is judgemental, gossips in a nasty way and runs the lives of her husband and daughter, Daisy. Or thinks she does. Not only that, she manages to manipulate her ‘friends’ for her own ends. Sharon loves a captive audience.
Eric, Sharon’s browbeaten husband, might give the impression of being amenable but there’s more going on under the surface than Sharon realises and woe betide Eric when she finds out. Sharon has also almost totally alienated her daughter.
The revelation about Eric isn’t the only thing about to rock Sharon’s world. Recovering from a terrible loss that impacted on her life, Daisy, a likeable and sympathetic character, also has a secret. One that doesn’t turn out at all how she hoped and will put her in danger.
He stood in the shadows. His eyes adjusted to the night. All the better to see her with.
He could still be inside in the warm, but, keen to discover if his plans had paid off, he waited here instead. Out of sight.
Obviously. He couldn’t risk being seen with her. Or by her.
Thank you for the fabulous review, Cathy. I appreciate you taking the time to read and trouble to review Shape of Revenge and for getting Sharon so well. 🙂
