We’ve had a lovely week in Northumberland with friends. A visit to Barter Books is a must for me and, even though the others aren’t bookish, they were impressed. Having said that they didn’t want to stay and browse too long so I only added four books to my reading pile. I could spend a whole day and a fortune in there.
My Chronicle Book Box arrived this week (there are spoilers below if you’ve ordered one and not received it yet) This is a quarterly subscription box with a choice of science fiction/fantasy or crime/mystery. There are also one-off gift boxes available. This quarter’s box includes three recent releases and other bookish goodies.
The end of 2018 is approaching fast and it’s ‘favourite books of the year’ time again! I enjoy looking back at books I’ve read and audios I’ve listened to, although choosing ones for the list never gets any easier. So in no particular order, here are some of my favourites.
I’ve been toying with the idea of subscribing to a book box for a while, and decided to take the plunge (I’m considering it my Christmas present to myself 😉) after seeing this post on Jo’s Book Blog. My Chronicle Book Box offer four boxes per year, if you want to subscribe, or individual purchases. There’s a choice between Crime/Mystery and Fantasy/Sc-Fi boxes and subscriptions can be cancelled at any time. I chose the Crime/Mystery Box.
Another year and more of my favourite opening lines or paragraphs, be they evocative, compelling and/or dramatic, from books I’ve read, or am reading, during the past twelve months – not necessarily new ones. These are just some of those I could have listed so, in no particular order, here they are. Clicking on the book cover will take you to my review.
