Hugh’s challenge this week is centred around the theme ‘After’. The first photo is ‘after the flight’ The balloon began to land very unexpectedly. It looked like it would hit one of the houses but just missed and landed in the field behind. Continue reading

Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 29 ~ Open #Photography #GSD
Hugh’s challenge this week is ‘open’ and as I was trawling through my photos I couldn’t resist this one.
Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 26 – Distance #Photography #RedArrows
Hugh chose ‘Distance’ for this weeks challenge. These photos were taken around three years ago. The Red Arrows always gave a terrific display during Lifeboat Week at Lyme Regis up until last year. They performed free of charge as a thank you to the RNLI but when the search and rescue services changed over from the RAF to a civilian contractor the price for a display was quoted at over £12,000 and likely to rise. Not unexpectedly the RNLI was unable to pay the fee. The good news is local businesses and organisations have managed to organise a Red Arrows display for this year’s Lifeboat Week.
Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 25 – Music #Jukebox #Elvis
This week Hugh’s challenge is to take or choose a photo that depicts music.
This jukebox was in an apartment we rented in St Ives, Cornwall. It was a novel piece of furniture – we never did get round to trying it out.
Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 23 – Season #Photography #Spring
Ronovan Hester is hosting Hugh’s weekly photo challenge and this week’s topic is season. As Ronovan says, it can mean a lot of things and I’ve chosen to interpret it as Spring. Here are two very different Spring days.
The Buddleia flowered quite early on this particular occasion because of the warm spring.
Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 22 – Group #Photography #Dogs
For Hugh’s photo challenge this week I’ve chosen two photos. The first is playtime after an agility class. You’d wonder that they had any energy left, but as you can see, the dogs enjoyed their free time.
Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 20 – Solitude #Photography
Hugh’s photo challenge this week is solitude. For me this means some alone time and that’s always an early morning walk with my dog. The photograph was taken a few years ago in a small Oxfordshire village and this was the scene for over a week. I loved those morning walks…and so did my dog. Continue reading
Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 19 – Gap #Photography
For Hugh’s challenge this week I’ve chosen this photo taken in Boston. I like the way the buildings are in the shade but through the gap between them the Marriott Custom House is bathed in sunshine. The building was Boston’s first skyscraper. Continue reading
Hugh’s Weekly #Photo Challenge: Week 17 – Calm
This week Hugh’s challenge is to post a photo which symbolises calm.
This photo was taken near the very pretty Nubble Lighthouse in Maine, USA. I love this view of the ocean, it was a beautiful, still day and every time I look at the photo it fills me with a sense of calm. Continue reading
Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 16 – Behind
The theme for this week’s photo challenge from Hugh is ‘behind.’
The lake behind the trees…
This photo was taken during a drive round Snowdonia. I’m not sure what body of water it is, we were driving round aimlessly, stopping now and again to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
