Published in January 2017, A Merciful Death is the first in a series of six that I enjoyed very much.

My Thoughts

Mercy Kilpatrick returns to her home town of Eagle’s Nest, a small rural town in Oregon, fifteen years after she fled the fallout from several disastrous events. She hasn’t seen or spoken to her family since then.

Now a special agent with the FBI she has been sent to Eagle’s Nest with fellow agent, Eddie Peterson, to help the local police force in their investigation of a spate of murders. Someone has been targeting the community of preppers and stock piling stolen weapons in what could be the preparation for a domestic terrorism event.

Throwback Thursday this week features the first of the Ross Duology by Georgia Rose, a book I enjoyed very much.

My Thoughts

Twenty-four years old and single, Madeleine Ross has lived on the edge of Crowbridge village for the last four years. Although she’s part of the village community, supports local events and has friendly relationships with people, she doesn’t talk about her life before moving to the village. Her closest friend, Diane (a great character who relishes the local suspicions that she’s a witch) lives next door, and after initially renting the cottage she owned to Madeleine, eventually gave her the option to buy.

My Thoughts

Naomi Bowes’ life changed irrevocably when, at almost twelve years old, she found out the truth about her father. It was hot that summer and Naomi woke in the sticky heat of the night. As she knelt with her arms resting on the window sill out, gazing into the dark, she saw her father heading off into the woods. Wondering if he was going to the creek to cool off, Naomi decided to follow him. He wasn’t going to the creek and when he disappeared into an old root cellar Naomi thought maybe he hidden her birthday present down there. But she discovers something no-one, and especially not a child should have to witness.
