#WeekendMusicShare ~ A Different Corner by George Michael #Music #Video
I’m joining in with Hugh’s fun Weekend Music Share feature on Hugh’s Views and News and this week’s choice is a song which helps you relax (or just a favourite or piece of music)
I love George Michael’s voice and I love this song. Surprisingly, A Different Corner always makes me feel relaxed when I listen to it, despite the subject matter being about unrequited love. George Michael wrote it in 1986 while he was still a member of Wham!
It was the first number one in Britain that featured an artist doing everything on the track—writing, singing, producing and playing all the instruments. George Michael was also the first solo performer in the UK who had number one hits with his first two singles (Careless Whisper and A Different Corner)

Doesn’t he have the look of Barry Gibb in that video, Cathy? You can’t fail to recognise his voice, though. I like how he’s waiting for the phone to ring, and then decides to take it off the hook. I remember doing the same thing – just in case it was terrible news or the call I was waiting for never came.
A sad song, but very relaxing to listen to.
Yes, he does look a little like Barry Gibb now you mention it. The video fits in very well with lyrics, it’s like he’s cocooned himself in a protective space with nothing to intrude.
I can feel the passion in this post that you have for music. As with your other posts on books and photography, you write like you love it.
Lovely to have hobbies and passions.
