One of the outings to keep a seven year old occupied during the summer holiday was a visit to a Nature World attraction. He wanted to see the bugs but did enjoy the butterflies. There were many species, this is just a small selection that I managed to photograph. It wasn’t easy to try to name them via Google and if I have any wrong please feel free to say so.
It’s a bumper summer for butterflies. The numbers so far are amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many, there are literally clouds of them lifting off the buddleia and hebe bushes when anyone brushes past.
Painted Ladies are around in the highest numbers (all images can be enlarged for better clarity by clicking them)
